Role Description The Claims Adjuster is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial and specialty line insurance claims from first notice of loss through resolution. Day-to-day tasks include conducting investigations, reviewing policy coverage, evaluating liability and damages, gathering and analyzing documentation, and coordinating with insureds, claimants, and insurers.
The role involves preparing detailed reports, recommending reserves and settlement strategies, negotiating fair settlements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
The Claims
Adjuster will collaborate closely with internal team members and external stakeholders to maintain timely, accurate claim handling. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Calgary, AB, with a combination of in-office and work-from-home flexibility.
Qualifications
- Solid proficiency in Claims Handling and Claims Management, including end-to-end oversight of complex and straightforward files.
- Solid understanding of Insurance and Insurance Claims processes, terminology, and regulatory considerations.
- Experience assessing and managing Property Damage claims, including documentation review and loss evaluation.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities, with a client-focused and solutions-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, managing priorities and deadlines.
- Previous experience as a claims adjuster or in a related insurance role; professional designations (e.g., CIP or equivalent) are an asset.
- Proficiency with claims management systems and standard office software; valid authorization to work in Canada.
