ROLE:

Trophy Rail is seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and professional Class 1 Long Haul Driver to support our railroad maintenance and construction operations throughout Western Canada. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of railroad equipment, heavy machinery, materials, tools, and supplies to project sites while ensuring compliance with all federal and provincial transportation regulations.

The successful candidate will have proven experience operating low bed (lowboy) trailers and transporting heavy equipment, ensuring all loads are safely secured, transported, and delivered in accordance with applicable regulations and Trophy Rail's high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles throughout Canada.
- Operate low bed (lowboy) trailers to transport heavy rail equipment, construction machinery, and oversized loads.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment, rail equipment, construction materials, tools, and supplies in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured using appropriate chains, binders, straps, and securement devices.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tractors, trailers, and cargo securement systems.
- Complete driver logs, inspection reports, mileage records.
- Ensure compliance with Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), National Safety Code (NSC), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations (where applicable), and provincial and federal transportation legislation.
- Maintain electronic logging devices (ELDs) and Hours of Service records.
- Communicate regularly with dispatch and operations regarding schedules, delays, equipment needs, and changing project requirements.




- Assist field crews with loading, unloading, and staging equipment when required.
- Perform minor preventative maintenance and report mechanical deficiencies immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional truck and trailer.
- Travel extensively and remain away from home for extended periods as operational requirements dictate.
- Represent Trophy Rail professionally while interacting with customers, suppliers, inspectors, and the public.
- Follow all Trophy Rail safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Participate in company safety meetings, training, and inspections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Valid Canadian Class 1 Driver's Licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Clean driver's abstract with a demonstrated history of safe commercial driving.
- Minimum three (3) years of Class 1 long-haul driving experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience operating low bed (lowboy) trailers and transporting heavy equipment is required.
- Experience loading, securing, transporting, and unloading heavy equipment, including rail maintenance equipment, excavators, loaders, or similar machinery.
- Experience transporting oversized and overweight loads is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in the railroad, construction, or heavy industrial sectors is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cargo securement standards and best practices.
- Working knowledge of Hours of Service regulations and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to climb on and off trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment safely.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing,



and walking on uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to meet the physical demands associated with long-haul driving and railroad work environments.

Travel Requirements

- Extensive travel throughout Western Canada.
- Extended periods away from home.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel as operational requirements dictate.

Safety Requirements Employees are expected to maintain the highest safety standards while representing Trophy Rail. The successful candidate must:

- Comply with all Trophy Rail safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in required safety meetings and training.
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Successfully complete all required pre-employment screening, including:
- Driver's abstract review
- Criminal record check
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing (where applicable)
- Medical examination as required
- Be fit for duty at all times.

Preferred Qualifications

- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certification.
- WHMIS Certification.
- Standard First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Experience obtaining or travelling under oversize/overweight permits.
- Knowledge of railroad maintenance and construction operations.
- Experience operating winches, ramps, hydraulic detach low bed trailers, and multi-axle trailer configurations.
