About The Role In this role, you will be responsible for programming CNC woodworking machinery, translating engineering drawings and CAD models into efficient machining programs, and optimizing production processes to ensure quality, accuracy, and material efficiency. You will work closely with engineering, production, and shop teams to support the successful manufacturing of custom millwork and fixture projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and program CNC machining operations for woodworking projects using CAD/CAM software.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to create accurate CNC programs.
- Optimize cutting paths, tooling, feeds, and speeds to maximize quality, efficiency, and material utilization.
- Set up, test, and validate CNC programs before production.
- Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and production teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain program documentation, revisions, and machining records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain high quality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong experience programming CNC woodworking machinery,
including CNC routers and related equipment.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering documents.
- Knowledge of woodworking materials, millwork construction methods, and fixture manufacturing processes.
- Experience optimizing tooling, machining strategies, feeds, and speeds for quality and productivity.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to CNC programming and machining.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, project management, and production teams.
- Experience in custom millwork, cabinetry, or fixture manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent experience in CNC programming, woodworking, or manufacturing is preferred.
