Role Description The Commercial Cladding Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Nepean, ON. This role is responsible for reviewing architectural drawings and specifications to prepare accurate material and labor take-offs for commercial cladding projects.

Day-to-day tasks include analyzing project scopes, preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals, coordinating with project managers and site supervisors, and communicating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing. The estimator will update and maintain estimating tools and databases, assist with budgeting and tender submissions, and support value engineering efforts.



This position also involves participating in project meetings, clarifying estimate assumptions, and collaborating closely with the operations team to ensure smooth project handoff and execution.

Qualifications

- Strong estimating skills for commercial construction, including quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and bid preparation.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Proficiency with estimating or construction software (e.g., MS Excel, estimating platforms) and general computer skills.
- Knowledge of cladding, siding, roofing systems, materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
- Solid analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple bids and deadlines.
- Relevant experience in construction estimating, preferably in commercial exterior cladding or building envelope work.
- Post-secondary education in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field is an asset.
- Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and tendering processes in the Greater Ottawa Area is an advantage.
