POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications Generalist facilitates accurate, timely information sharing across all Nation platforms, ensuring messaging on behalf of Tsuut'ina Administration and its subsidiaries is concise, appropriate, and grounded in a basic understanding of Tsuut'ina Nation policies and procedures. The role requires solid technical writing, computer proficiency, and social media skills, along with receptiveness to feedback, and plays a critical part in supporting the coordination of emergency and community-based notifications in collaboration with emergency and operational service entities for on- and off-Nation residents. This role fosters an informed environment within the department, often requiring irregular hours to respond to time-sensitive issues.

The Communications

Generalist must demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and strong time management, working effectively both independently and within a team, while building positive relationships with Nation citizens, the Tsuut'ina Nation Head Chief and Minor Chiefs, professionals, and government officials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Communications and Information Management – ensure information platforms and stations have correct and relevant information. Streamline approved information sharing across all Nation platforms. Assist with the coordination of emergency and community-based notifications.



Support collaborative efforts between Tsuut'ina administration and emergency or operational service entities to ensure timely, accurate information reaches on- and off-Nation residents. Understanding of digital formatting; exporting documents to digital formats required for products, Must understand print sizes such as letter, legal, tabloid, and business card.
- Administrative Support – gather current contact information and maintain contact directories. Screen calls, take messages, and redirect contacts. Travel and event planning as required.
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement – assist with community engagement and strategies; attend events or gatherings as schedule permits. Ability to develop strong working relationships within and outside Tsuut'ina Nation Administration.
- Confidentiality and Professionalism – must be discreet regarding all confidential matters relating to Tsuut'ina Nation. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask, remain flexible to change, and adapt easily when short notice is given.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

- Desired Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

o BSc/BA, diploma, or certificate in communications, executive/administrative studies, or a relevant field. o Proven experience (2–5 years) in communications, communication engagement, an engagement role, and an executive or administrative role.

o Attendance in Tsuut'ina Gunaha Institute classes,



and Cultural Sensitivity Training.

o Proficiency in copywriting and editing.

o Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and related Microsoft products.

o Print and publication knowledge.

o Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of office and financial procedures.

- Personal Attributes:

o Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills. o Organizational and planning abilities with an understanding of the importance in attention to detail and accuracy of information.

o Commitment to professional development.

o Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.

o Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information.

- General Employment Requirements:

o Valid Driver’s License, and reliable transportation. o Criminal Record Check.

o Oath of Confidentiality.

o Must be prepared to abide by Tsuut'ina Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
