Community Support Worker – The Grove

Ruth & Naomi's Mission is seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Community Support Workers to join our team at The Grove Older Adults Shelter.

As a Community Support Worker, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and hope-filled environment for older adults experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll build meaningful relationships, respond to participant needs, support day-to-day shelter operations, and help connect individuals with appropriate community resources.

What You'll Do

- Build positive, respectful relationships with participants through trauma-informed engagement
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming shelter environment
- Monitor participant wellbeing and respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies
- De-escalate conflict while maintaining professional boundaries
- Complete incident reports and communicate effectively with team members
- Administer First Aid and contact emergency services when required
- Perform regular cleaning and sanitation throughout the shelter
- Support participants by providing encouragement,

What You'll Bring

- Certificate or diploma in a social services field or equivalent related experience
- Understanding of homelessness, addiction, mental health, and trauma-informed care
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in crisis situations
- First Aid, Food Safe, Naloxone, and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- A compassionate, respectful, and hopeful approach to supporting others

Compensation & Perks
