We administer the pension benefits and investment assets of the Public Service Superannuation Plan and the Teachers’ Pension Plan and administer the pension benefits of the Members’ Retiring Allowances and the three former Sydney Steel pension plans.

Our premises are within the Purdy's Wharf complex which provides amenities such as an on-site daycare and a fitness centre.
Our office is connected to the downtown pedway system and situated on Halifax's beautiful waterfront providing easy access to ferry and bus transit hubs, banks, restaurants, and shopping.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Compliance & Internal Audit Analyst to join our Enterprise Risk & Compliance team. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Risk & Compliance, you will play a key role in supporting NS Pension's governance, risk management, and compliance framework through compliance monitoring, internal audit testing, and operational risk assessment activities. Working across investment management, financial services, pension administration, and technology functions, you will help ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, internal policies, and industry best practices.
In this dynamic and collaborative role, you will identify opportunities to strengthen controls, processes, and compliance practices while providing meaningful insights and recommendations to senior leaders. You will contribute to business continuity planning initiatives, support treasury and investment-related oversight activities, monitor emerging regulatory and industry developments, and work closely with colleagues across the organization to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
What you need to be successful
- A bachelor's degree in commerce with a major in accounting, or a related certificate program combined with a minimum of three (3) years experience in internal audit, operational control auditing, compliance, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) is required.
- Additional related education and/or professional designations (e.g. CIA, CFA, or MBA) would be considered an asset.
- Strong technical proficiency, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with complex spreadsheets,
data analysis, and Excel automation tools would be considered an asset.
- Experience contributing to business continuity planning initiatives would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg Professional Services (Bloomberg Terminal) would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings, recommendations, and complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Strong analytical, research, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements.
Job Status: Permanent Full-Time
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week
