Job Summary

The Centre for Experiential and Career Education is hiring for two (2) temporary positions of Coordinator, Co-operative Education. The Coordinator, Co-operative Education, assists in the development, delivery and evaluation of activities required for the effective operation and development of the Centre.

The incumbent actively participates in student recruitment and maintains communication with students, employers, industry associations and others involved in the co-op education process. The incumbent is responsible for co-op student work terms in appropriate training related jobs in industry, evaluation of students’ co-op accomplishments, and academic development of co-op education programs. The Coordinator, Co-operative Education oversees employer solicitation and relationship development and liaises with various internal and external related groups.

The Coordinator develops on and off-campus student work opportunities and raises faculty and student awareness of these opportunities. They provide support to students that extends throughout the students’ workplace experience and helps to ensure student success and alignment to academic study.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution; supplemented with courses/training in career development topics.
- A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a service-oriented environment or (3) years’ experience participating in career development activities; ideally in a postsecondary setting.
- Experience in building effective relationships with students, faculty, employers, and community stakeholders.
- Experience in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Understanding of University missions and processes.
- Good working knowledge of academic programs.
- Good working knowledge of the Co-operative Education program.
- Strong working knowledge of the British Columbia labour market.
- The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing inside and outside of the organization




- The ability to exercise good judgement.
- The ability to solve problems in accordance with institutional policies.
- Ability to exercise care and support to a diverse student body.
- Strong project management and time management skills.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office. Some experience using Terminal 4, FAST, Banner, and Symplicity is an asset.
- The ability to deliver effective presentations and workshops.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and ability to multi-task in a fastpaced environment.
- This position requires work at multiple campus locations (Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, and Hope), and working flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, access to personal and reliable transportation is required.
