Position Summary The Crisis Intervention Response Worker will respond to and support individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, assisting the Senior Crisis Intervention Worker. The incumbent will offer resources, outreach, psychoeducation, and interventions to help stabilize those facing a mental health crises.

The Crisis Intervention

Worker will be required to travel and provide crisis support to other First Nations in the Treaty 7 region and may also assist the Albert Regional MWCRT. Additionally, the Crisis Intervention Worker will be deployed at least once a year to address any regional crisis situations.

Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to: Will support the deployment protocols and process, to be deployed within 24hrs. Will support the SHS’s 24hrs Crisis Intervention line and meet with individuals in a crisis at a place that is safe and conducive to a mental health intervention Needs to develop and maintain a resource file of local and surrounding resources. Will attend mandatory trainings and meetings Keep and track data Translate information to the appropriate codes Determine and assign the level of priority of the call Communicate effectively during a mental health crisis.

Ensure referrals are sent to the supporting agency, documented and followed-up. Ask vital questions and provide pre-arrival instructions for emergency medical calls Receive and respond to a variety of emergency and non-emergency services and complaints Ask questions to interpret, analyze and anticipate the caller’s situation as to resolve problems, provide information, dispatch emergency services, or refer callers to other agencies Needs to attend at least one regional crisis situation each year. Relay information to subordinates, co-workers,



supervisors and the relevant emergency services necessary to meet the needs to each caller Provide detailed contact notes on each given shift Follow-up on current intervention files.

Manage caseload accordingly and keep all files up to date electronically and physically. Will work in a variety of roles that will meet the needs of Siksika Nation members who may be dealing with a crisis situation such as suicidal ideation, addictions, psychosis etc. Will attend and participate with trainings in prevention, de-escalation and stabilization.

Will be cross-trained, will support the other Mental Wellness teams with program services Will be facilitating community workshops. Must work in office during shift Must support other SHS teams.

Education & Experience Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and possesses a high school diploma or equivalent Diploma or Degree in Mental Health, Social Work or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years work experience in a Social Work or Health and Human Services field or related field preferred Training or certification in crisis intervention.

Requirements • Fluency in the Siksika Language is an asset but not required, Knowledge of Siksika Language, culture and traditions is an asset • Valid Class 4 Drivers License • Criminal Clearance Required. A May or May not letter will not be accepted.
