Position: Custodial & Security Worker (Security & Dorm Janitor)

Location: Laureate College, 1921 Snake Road, Burlington, ON

Hours: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM (Overnight Shift)

Reports to: Facilities Coordinator

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Custodial & Security Worker to join our team at Laureate College. This dual-role position combines custodial responsibilities (cleaning and maintaining classrooms, hallways, kitchen, and other facilities) with overnight security duties (ensuring the safety and security of boarding students and campus facilities). This position is an important part of the security and safety of Laureate College’s boarding program.

Key Responsibilities

Custodial & Cleaning Duties:

- Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting washrooms.
- Clean classrooms, hallways, kitchen, activity room, dining areas, offices, and fixtures.
- Empty garbage bins and recycling containers.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and properly.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.

Security & Safety Duties:

- Conduct regular building patrols during the night to ensure safety of property and personnel.
- Check that all doors are secured and locked.




- Respond promptly to emergencies, including fire, theft, or break-in situations.
- Monitor and ensure boarding students remain in their dorms overnight (scheduled checks and random rounds).
- Handle student emergencies and document incidents properly.

Student Affairs Duties:

- Perform room and hallway checks at designated and random times until 5:00 AM
- Mediate disputes between students when necessary.

Qualifications

- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent training/experience.
- Experience in custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or security roles preferred.
- Knowledge of basic security and fire inspection procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Schedule

- Regular overnight shift: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- Some weekend coverage may be required.
