Overview
Energex Inc. is seeking a driven and technically capable Customer Solutions Engineer to support the growth of our Dream Thermostat and HVAC Energy Management Systems. This role focuses on expanding relationships with existing clients while developing new business across multi-unit residential (MDU), student housing, and assisted living sectors.This position blends applications engineering, technical sales support, and customer success, requiring someone comfortable operating in a fast-paced, results-driven setting. The ideal candidate is both technically curious and commercially minded, with a robust ability to translate product knowledge into real-world solutions for clients.The role includes structured onboarding, product training, and mentorship to develop a deep understanding of Energex systems, including our cloud-based dashboard controls, occupancy sensors, and HVAC integrations, as well as our go-to-market strategy and sales processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide application engineering and system design support for HVAC energy management solutions
- Work directly with developers, mechanical engineers, contractors, property managers, and ownership groups
- Support inside and outside sales efforts, including quotes, proposals, submittals, and presentations
- Conduct product demonstrations and educate clients on system capabilities and ROI
- Assist with installation support and troubleshooting, ensuring successful project delivery
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with a focus on long-term partnerships
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within target markets
- Deliver exceptional customer service with quick turnaround times
- Continuously improve internal processes and enhance the overall customer experience
Typical tasks include:
- Meeting with developers, property managers, engineers, and contractors to present solutions
- Supporting application engineering for thermostat and sensor deployments across HVAC systems
- Managing project timelines and coordinating installations with internal and external stakeholders
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting, both remotely and on-site
- Assisting customers in optimizing system performance through the Energex cloud dashboard
- Collaborating with internal teams on proposals, pricing, and system design
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2–3+ years of experience in technical sales, engineering support, or HVAC/building systems (preferred)
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems, or related field (preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience)
- Strong understanding (or willingness to learn) of HVAC systems and building controls
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Comfortable working directly with clients and managing relationships
- Ability to learn and communicate technical product information quickly
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and adaptable in a growing company environment
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits, and training
