Key Duties & Responsibilities
Engineering Staff Member Cyclotron duties:
During the Installation/ Commissioning phase of cyclotron equipment:
- Participates in the installation of equipment
- Technical responsibility over the Cyclotron subsystem
- Participate in commissioning activities of the entire subsystem
During the Cyclotron Operations/ Maintenance phase:
- Operation of the cyclotron according to proper operating procedures
- Performs routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance on the cyclotron
- Maintains essential parts on site for cyclotron, manipulator arms, chemistry modules, hot cells, and quality control equipment.
- Ensures completion of documentation related to cyclotron operations
- Performs diagnosis and repair on the following: Electronic equipment, programmable logic controllers, power supplies, high voltage and high-power RF systems
- Provides after hours on call support
- Maintains and troubleshoots automated chemistry processing equipment
- Designs and builds equipment to improve diagnostic and repair capabilities and implement reliability improvements for cyclotron and isotope manufacturing
- Complies to all relevant procedures and regulations
- Provides technical training, as necessary.
- Trend analysis and tracking of electronic system performance data.
- Performs routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance of general laboratory equipment
- Occasional domestic and international travel.
Generals and site related duties: · Ensures use of safe work procedures and wears all required PPE. Promptly reports all injuries and unsafe conditions.
· Maintains a favorable working relationship with coworkers to promote a cooperative working climate conductive to maximum productivity, efficiency and effectiveness
· Ensures completion of required equipment maintenance and calibration
· Assist in investigations and documentation for out of specifications (OOS)
· Coordinates with Facility Manager to schedule annual and additional preventive maintenance and associated production downtime
· Maintains any validation documents
· Adheres to Company policies and procedure manuals, at all Liaises with Quality Manager to ensure any issues are addressed
· Completes all planned training within the defined deadlines
Education, Knowledge & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineering
- Electromechanical experience or experience with high vacuum and/or RF
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing (Health Canada and GMP regulated), an asset
- IBA Cyclotron experience, an asset
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of cGMP and CNSC regulations, an asset
- Highly computer proficient, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-pace environment and a high volume of work
- Robust interpersonal skills with an emphasis on effective communication and proven ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders in a diverse population at all levels
- Ability to accommodate shift changes based on business needs
- Completion of manufacturer’s applications training course for the cyclotron and chemistry modules, an asset.
- Previous work experience in a radioactive environment, an asset
- Perform other duties outside of the scope, as required
