Pentagon Group is a leading telecommunications design-build contractor providing turnkey construction services across Ontario. We are expanding our underground operations and are looking for an experienced Directional Driller to join our team.

Responsibilities

Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently.

Install HDPE conduit and underground telecommunications infrastructure.

Complete bores for fiber optic and utility installations.

Read and interpret utility locates, construction drawings, and bore plans.

Perform drill setup, tracking, and bore planning.

Conduct daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.

Coordinate with locators, hydrovac operators, excavator operators, and restoration crews.

Ensure all work is completed safely and meets client specifications.

Maintain accurate daily production reports.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of directional drilling experience.

Previous telecommunications or utility construction experience.

Experience operating Vermeer D24x40 and/or Vermeer D20x22 drill rigs is strongly preferred.

Ability to read utility locates and construction drawings.

Experience with HDD guidance and tracking systems.

Knowledge of underground utility installation methods.

Strong mechanical aptitude.

Valid Class G driver's licence required.





DZ or AZ licence is considered a strong asset.

Ability to work overtime and occasional out-of-town projects when required.

Preferred Experience

Fiber optic installation.

Bell, Rogers, Cogeco, Telus, or municipal utility projects.

Operating mini excavators, skid steers, or vacuum excavation equipment.

Confined Space, First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, and Ground Disturbance certifications.
