Northern Ontario

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, the Director, ESG will lead environmental, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability initiatives across Avenir’s portfolio of critical minerals projects, including the Martison Phosphate and Lake George Antimony projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement ESG strategies, policies, and reporting frameworks that support responsible project development.
- Lead environmental permitting, regulatory approvals, and environmental assessment processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous Nations, local communities, regulators, and key stakeholders.




- Provide strategic ESG guidance to project teams and support projects through exploration, studies, permitting, construction, and future operations.
- Identify and manage environmental, social, and stakeholder risks while supporting project growth and development opportunities.
- Lead and mentor internal teams, consultants, and external partners.

Qualifications

- 12+ years of leadership experience in mining, ESG, environmental permitting, sustainability, Indigenous relations, or project development.
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Natural Sciences, Public Affairs, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian mining regulations, environmental assessment processes, and permitting requirements.
- Proven experience building trusted relationships with Indigenous Nations, communities, regulators, and government stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning skills.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
