A well established charitable organization is seeking a Director of Finance & Administration to join its senior leadership team. With a national presence and an expanding international reach, the organization develops and delivers evidence based educational initiatives that support children's social and emotional development.
Its work is supported through a diverse mix of government funding, philanthropic partnerships, and community engagement, creating meaningful and measurable impact across the communities it serves.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance & Administration will oversee the organization's finance, administration, human resources, and operational functions while serving as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and Board of Directors. This role offers the opportunity to influence organizational strategy while ensuring strong financial stewardship and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting processes.
- Oversee month end and year end reporting, external audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and enhance financial policies, internal controls, and reporting processes.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the Board.
- Monitor organizational performance, investment activity, and financial sustainability.
- Support grant reporting, funding proposals, and relationships with external funding partners.
Operations & Administration
- Provide leadership across finance, payroll,
benefits administration, human resources, and general administration.
- Oversee key operational processes, vendor relationships, insurance, and organizational systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, technology, and operational efficiency.
Leadership
- Lead and mentor the Finance & Administration team while fostering a collaborative, high performing culture.
- Partner with senior leadership to support organizational planning, governance, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- CPA designation in good standing.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Progressive leadership experience within the charitable or not for profit sector.
- Robust knowledge of not for profit accounting standards, budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience supporting organizations with multiple funding sources, including government grants and donor funding.
- Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership and Boards of Directors.
- Strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting and payroll systems.
