Position Summary The Gender-based violence outreach program provides community-oriented support for victims of intimate partner violence (IPV).The Domestic Violence Outreach Worker provides direct support, advocacy, safety planning, and referrals to individuals experiencing domestic or intimate partner violence. Working from a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered approach, the Outreach Worker helps clients access community resources, navigate systems, and develop individualized plans to enhance their safety and well-being. Additionally, the Domestic violence outreach worker fosters safer communities through public education, prevention activities and collaboration with other services to strengthen the knowledge of IPV and coordinates responses to high-risk and complex cases.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and risk assessment.
- Develop personalized safety plans with clients.
- Offer information, advocacy, and referrals to community services, including housing, legal, financial, healthcare, and counselling supports.
- Maintain regular contact with clients through office appointments, outreach, phone, or virtual services.
- Assist clients in navigating other service systems.




- Build and maintain team-oriented relationships with community agencies and service providers.
- Facilitate educational workshops and community awareness initiatives as required.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client documentation.
- Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with organizational policies, ethical standards, and applicable legislation.

Qualifications

Required:

- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Experience working with individuals affected by domestic or gender-based violence.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention, and risk assessment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Valid driver's licence
- Successful Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Preferred:

- Fluent in both official languages (written and spoken)
- Experience with case management.
- Knowledge of local community resources.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including Indigenous communities, newcomers,



LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, and persons with disabilities.
