We are seeking an experienced drafting professional who can create accurate 2D drawings and complex 3D models, contribute to design development, and help advance the standards that support consistent, high-quality project delivery.
The opportunity In this role, you will work closely with engineers, technologists, project managers, and other designers to translate technical requirements, field information, and design concepts into coordinated engineering deliverables. You will bring both production capability and sound design judgement to projects involving new and existing industrial facilities.
What you'll do
- Develop accurate 2D engineering drawings and complex 3D models for industrial projects.
- Prepare coordinated drawing packages for mechanical (pumping/piping systems, machine design components), structural (structural steel, platforms/walkways), and civil disciplines (pump bases, foundations, retaining walls), based on project requirements and design direction.
- Participate in design development by identifying constructability considerations, resolving drawing conflicts, and communicating technical questions to the project team.
- Update and revise drawings and models throughout project development while maintaining document quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and project managers to organize and deliver clear, practical, and buildable design information.
- Support the ongoing development of PE Tech drafting standards, templates, and quality-control practices.
What you bring
- A technical diploma in engineering technology,
formal CAD training, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- 5+ years of relevant CAD and drafting experience, preferably supporting industrial engineering or construction projects.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D (Plant 3D) environments, with an emphasis on 3d.
- Experience producing complete, coordinated engineering drawing packages in one or more of the mechanical, structural, or civil disciplines.
- The ability to interpret technical information and translate it into clear, accurate drawings and models.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to drawing quality.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
- A self-directed approach, with the judgement to identify issues, ask questions, and take ownership of assigned work.
Additional assets
- Experience with other 3D modelling or building-information-modelling platforms (Solidworks or similar).
- Familiarity with industrial facilities, brownfield projects, or process-driven operating environments.
- Experience contributing to drafting standards, templates, drawing libraries, or quality-control processes.
- Knowledge of industrial processes and multidisciplinary design coordination.

Position details
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week, based in the Nanaimo, BC or Surrey BC office.
- Candidates must be able to commute to the office or be willing to relocate.
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Annual salary range: $50,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
