Who we are:

Sangudo Children’s Academy and Daycare opened it’s doors in October 2022, we are located inside the Sangudo Community School. Our program is separated into an early childhood room and a junior kindergarten/OOSC room.

Sangudo Children’s Academy & Daycare was started and is ran by a volunteer-based board of directors, working directly with the staff of SCAD we are able to provide a safe home away from home for your children.

We are a licensed facility that serves students from 12 months – 12 years. We are open during all PD days (within the Northern Gateway School Division), Spring Break, Summer and Winter holidays.

We are closed for all Statutory holidays, one week during Christmas and one week during Summer.

Here at SCAD our program supports learning through play. We implement the Alberta FLIGHT curriculum framework as well as Kimochis and Learning without Tears. We also believe that Early Learning Educators are professionals who have the big job of educating and shaping young learners.

:

Reporting to the Program Supervisor the Early Learning Educators are responsible for the primary supervision and teaching of the of the children in their classroom. They’re charged with caring for the children and ensuring they are given a safe, happy, and educational environment. We are looking for Educators who are ready to lead as we are a small center.

Educators will be given the tools and support to lead curriculum but are expected to come with experience and tools of their own which can be implemented.

Early Learning Educator Duties and Responsibilities

Curriculum & Supervision

- Maintains high quality childcare standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.



Above all is a believer that the role of the educator is to provide tools to enable children to be successful and thrive by meeting group expectations.
- Responsible for the programming and educational curriculum offered in the classroom using the curriculum provided as well as participating in planning time.
- Incorporating mindfulness and regulation into daily routines.
- This programming must be aligned with the Alberta Early Learning Curriculum Framework, FLIGHT.
- Completes monthly reports and participates in staff meetings.

Classroom Management

- Maintains documentation to support the licensed status: attendance, medication, diapering & meals, etc. The program will be maintaining records using a digital platform.
- Complies with policies and procedures for the operation of the childcare center.
- Keeps inventory of & requests classroom supplies as needed.

Dealings with Parents

- Writes documentation and observations informing parents of classroom events, and children’s development.
- Maintains open, consistent, and effective communication with parents, providing parent assistance and support as needed.

Early Learning Educator Skills and Qualifications The Early Learning Educator needs to have a passion for play and the belief that children are capable and important as well as positive leadership skills.

- Level 1, 2 or 3 Certificate, Early Learning and Childcare Diploma or willing to obtain.




- Valid First Aid certificate and Police Clearance with vulnerable sector search or willing to obtain.
- Clear criminal record/vulnerable sector check.
- Registered with the ECE database in Alberta
- A model of best practices in child-rearing, including discipline, encouragement, and communication.
- Knowledge in child development, and parent-child relationships.
- Must have an appropriate code of ethics for working with young children.
- Must be flexible and able to react appropriately to changing circumstances.
- Must be professional and provide a public face for the childcare facility.

- Unpaid days off when needed.

Salary: $20/hr for level 1. As indicated below staff also receive government wage top ups. Level 1 Base Pay $20/hr, With top up: $22.64 ($2.64)

Level 2 Base pay $23/hrs, With top up: $28.05 ($5.05)

Level 3 Base Pay $23/hr, With top up: $31.62 ($8.62)
