Job Summary

Dear electronic design expert ,

Thank you so much for reading my freelance electronic design project! I am so excited to read your resume. My current engineer unfortunately has university stuff (and now a girlfriend) and was unable to finish the project as I envisioned over the summer.

I created a free extension to a math learning website that adds physical feedback to the learning process through the tongue and (with your help) the skin. The feedback comes in the form of electricity from a Translingual Neurostimulator and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation device.

Here is the previously commissioned this piece of hardware: https://www.instructables.com/Computer-controlled-Signal-randomized-Translingual

I am based in beautiful Toronto, okay you caught me... actually Scarborough :/, and am looking to hire a fellow local to integrate the above hardware device with a commercial Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation device, so that it can take commands from the same Arduino and computer program.

I am hiring because I don't have the skillset and experience personally, and I want to be 1000% confident that it is secure because everything is being published open source. I want other people to build on this work.

I will give you the TENS device and the job would be taking it apart, figuring out how it works, and then reassembling it in such a way it can be controlled with my computer and be complimentary to the existing hardware. I hope this is reasonable. :)

#epicskillsneeded

- Someone who has reversed engineered complicated electronics before (ideally worked on or has interest in medical devices)
- Some coding experience (vibe coding might be acceptable if you awesome at engineering), I am not sure how to translate the existing physical controls of the TENS unit into the existing code base
- Ideally, someone who has contributed to the open source community before
- Committed to making safe electronics, experience making prototypes
- A fellow geek because my project is an opportunity to work on something very unique
- Is willing to work for a fixed contract price, I am open to negotiating, but prefer to align incentives by agreeing to a price I know I can afford. Ideally I would pay half in advance and the other half once the work is finished. I hope that's fair.

Pay: $70.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
