Experienced Produce Clerk – Temporary Full time

Location: Maison Fresh, St. Lawrence Market, Toronto

Position: Temporary full-time for two weeks, with possible ongoing part-time work

Schedule: Approximately 40+ hours per week, including weekends

About Maison Fresh

Maison Fresh is a premium produce and prepared-food shop located inside Toronto’s historic St. Lawrence Market. We specialize in high-quality local, organic and specialty produce, including more than 90 varieties of local and exotic fruit.

The Position

We are looking for an experienced produce clerk to join our team while our Produce Manager is away for two weeks. This is a physically demanding, hands-on position in a very fast-paced store. The successful candidate must have previous produce-department experience and be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

There may be an opportunity for ongoing part-time work after the initial two-week period.

Responsibilities

- Receive, inspect, rotate and stock fresh produce
- Trim, clean and prepare vegetables for display
- Build, fill and maintain attractive produce displays
- Monitor freshness and promptly remove damaged or poor-quality products
- Prepare cut fruit and other fresh packaged items




- Assist with inventory counts and produce ordering while the Produce Manager is away
- Move products between the receiving area, storage areas and sales floor
- Maintain clean, organized and food-safe work areas
- Help customers and provide basic product information
- Assist elsewhere in the store when required

Requirements

- Previous professional produce-department experience is required
- Strong knowledge of produce quality, handling, rotation and merchandising
- Able to work quickly and accurately in a very fast-paced environment
- Able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lb
- Able to remain on your feet and perform physical work throughout the shift
- Experience preparing cut fruit is strongly preferred
- Experience with produce ordering or inventory is an asset
- Dependable, punctual and comfortable working with minimal supervision
- Available for weekday and weekend shifts during the two-week period
- Food Handler Certification is an asset
