Eye Clinic Assistant – Part-TimeJob Overview

Join our dynamic eye care team as an Eye Clinic Assistant, where your enthusiasm, reliability, and dedication will help deliver exceptional patient experiences. In this role, you will support clinical operations, assist patients throughout their visits, and help ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the clinic.

No prior experience is required — training will be provided to the right candidate. Previous experience in a medical, ophthalmology, optometry, or customer-service setting is an asset but is not mandatory. We are looking for someone who is a fast learner, tech-savvy, dependable, patient-focused, and eager to learn in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This is a part-time position with no guaranteed hours. Hours will vary based on clinic needs and scheduling requirements. Applicants must be flexible and available according to the clinic schedule, including being available when additional coverage is required.

This paid position provides an excellent opportunity for someone interested in entering or gaining experience in the healthcare and eye-care field. You will receive hands-on training and develop valuable clinical, administrative, and patient-care skills in a qualified eye care environment.

Responsibilities

- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify appointments, and assist with check-in procedures using electronic medical records.
- Prepare examination rooms, clean and disinfect equipment, and ensure necessary supplies are stocked.
- Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during eye examinations by preparing instruments and accurately recording observations.
- Perform front-desk duties,



including scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries, and processing patient paperwork.
- Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and basic eye-care information while supporting retail activities when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, medical histories, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record.
- Help create a friendly and comfortable environment for pediatric patients and assist with age-appropriate needs during examinations.
- Follow clinic procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and professional clinical environment.
- Learn and perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing and other clinical duties as training is provided.
- Learn and adapt to new medical equipment, software, and technology used in the clinic.
- Work collaboratively with the clinical team to provide efficient, compassionate, and patient-focused care.

Skills & Qualifications
- No prior experience required — training will be provided.
- Must be a fast learner and able to quickly learn new procedures, terminology, equipment, and software.
- Must be tech-savvy and comfortable working with computers, electronic medical records, medical equipment, and various software applications.
- Previous experience in a medical office, clinical setting,



ophthalmology, optometry, or customer service is an asset but not required.
- Willingness and ability to learn ophthalmic terminology, clinical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as Epic or similar platforms is an asset.
- Strong communication and patient-care skills with a friendly, professional, and compassionate approach.
- Ability to perform front-desk responsibilities, including scheduling, phone communication, and paperwork.
- Experience with optical products or retail sales is an asset but not required.
- Comfortable working with patients of different ages, including children.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be flexible and available according to the clinic's schedule.
