We are looking for a skilled Grower in the greenhouse industry to join our team in our Burlington plant. This position is permanent and full-time, working approx. 47.5 hours per week.

Duties include

- Responsible for the propagation, irrigation, fertilization, weeding and packaging of all plant products
- Responsible for the potting, maintenance and growing of all potted stock held at the greenhouse complex including those grown in greenhouses and those grown outdoors
- Coordinating collection, sticking and growing of all greenhouses cutting products
- Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory and location mapping of all products
- Working with sales to coordinate products for client pickup
- Responsible for pest control including weeds, insects, and rodents
- Order materials such as fertilizer, pesticides, and other nursery and greenhouse related accessories
- Establish the environmental conditions required to grow flowers and plants, and design planting and care schedules accordingly
- Responsible for greenhouse complex maintenance
- Responsible for general cleanliness of facilities
- Performs any tasks related to the duties identified
- Performs minor facility and equipment maintenance
- Operates associated equipment
- Oversees and directs staff as required
- To be on call when plant manager is away

Qualifications:
- Proven experience in container stock production in trees, shrubs and perennials - minimum 3-5 years
- Excellent English communication skills both verbal and in writing
- Excellent resource management and planning skills
- Excellent supervisory skills
- Excellent knowledge in horticulture and grounds maintenance




- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Greenhouse Environmental control systems
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Botany or equivalent (preferred)
- Capable of operating various landscape equipment including tractors, mowers, hand tools and forklifts
- Proven 3+ years of driving experience
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in variable climatic conditions including heat and wet conditions
- Ability to work on own and in a team environment
- Work in a secure manner and maintain good work ethics
- Highly self motivated and positive role model
- Able to work a variety of hours with extra hours performed during peak operations being taken off at slow time
- Ensure all laws and nursery policies are followed
- Must be willing to take courses and attend seminars to update skills as available

Safety and Hazards:
- General hazards associated with operations of various nursery equipment
- Bending and lifting
- Exposure to various agricultural and nursery specific chemicals and fertilizers

Working Hours: · Monday to Friday: 7 am – 4:30 pm

· Every other Saturday / Holiday: 7 am – 12 pm

. Busier times: 6:00 am - 6 pm
