Who Can Become a Foster Parent?
We are looking for caring individuals and families from diverse backgrounds who are ready to provide a safe, healthy, and supportive home for children and youth in need.
Ideal foster parents are
- Compassionate people with a desire to make a positive difference.
- Open to learning new skills and using a trauma-informed approach to caring for children.
- Willing to work collaboratively with our experienced foster care team.
Our dedicated professionals will guide you through the application process and provide ongoing support throughout your fostering journey. What Does Foster Care Involve?
As a foster parent, you will:
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and stable home for children and youth.
- Help children develop healthy relationships and a sense of belonging.
- Meet children’s daily physical, emotional, educational, and social needs.
- Participate in training to build your knowledge and stay current with best parenting practices.
- Experience the personal rewards of making a lasting impact in a child’s life.
- Receive non-taxable remuneration to help support the care you provide.
When Can You Start? You can begin the process as soon as you’re ready. Before accepting placements, applicants complete:
- An interview
- A home assessment
- Required training, documentation, and screening
These steps help ensure a successful match between foster families and the children they support. Foster placements may be short-term or long-term, depending on each child’s needs.
