White Canvas Design Agency is looking for a talented Freelance UI/UX Website Designer to join our agile team of "do-ers." We're a purpose-driven, women-led agency that believes great design should be both beautiful and purposeful. Employment Type: Independent Contractor (Freelance)

Reports to: Managing Director

Start Date: As projects become available

Compensation: Project-based independent contractor. Please include your standard hourly contractor rate with your application.

What You'll Do

As an integral part of our creative team, you'll shape the digital experiences our clients use every day. From discovery through final design, you'll create intuitive, visually engaging websites that balance strategy, usability, and beautiful design.

Website Experience Design

Design custom website experiences ranging from 10–40 pages, creating user-focused layouts that align with each client's goals, brand, and audience.

Collaborative Design Process

Work closely with our creative and development teams to translate strategy into thoughtful, pixel-perfect Figma designs that are ready for development.

Project Communication

Manage your deliverables proactively, communicating project progress, clarifying requirements, and identifying risks or roadblocks early to keep projects on schedule.

Developer Collaboration

Partner closely with our Front-end Developer throughout implementation to ensure design intent is maintained while delivering technically sound, high-quality websites.

Who You Are

You are a thoughtful designer who enjoys solving problems through design. You understand that excellent user experiences happen when creativity, strategy, and collaboration come together.

Experienced





You have 3+ years of professional UI/UX design experience with a portfolio demonstrating custom website projects from concept through execution.

Design-Focused

You have a strong understanding of user experience principles, information architecture, accessibility, responsive design, and modern web interaction patterns.

Technically Fluent

You are highly proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Adobe XD.

Collaborative

You communicate clearly, welcome feedback, ask thoughtful questions, and enjoy working alongside developers to ensure exceptional final products.

Organized

You manage multiple projects effectively, estimate timelines realistically, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Positive & Curious

You're self-motivated, eager to learn, adaptable to changing priorities, and bring a collaborative attitude to every project.

Preferred Experience

- UI/UX Design Certificate or Degree from a recognized institution
- 3+ years of experience designing responsive marketing and corporate websites
- Strong understanding of accessibility and UX best practices
- Experience creating design systems and reusable UI components
- Familiarity with Google Workspace
- Experience collaborating with developers using Figma handoff workflows

Work Arrangement This is an independent contractor opportunity. Work is assigned on an as-needed, project basis depending on client demand. There are no guaranteed weekly hours, and contractors are free to maintain other clients.

This remote opportunity is open to candidates located in Canada.
