General Labourer / Equipment Operator

Wood Buffalo Paving Ltd. – Fort McMurray, AB

Wood Buffalo Paving is looking for dependable, hardworking General Labourers / Equipment Operators to join our road construction crews for the remainder of the 2026 construction season.

Our crews work across asphalt paving, milling, road base construction, crack sealing, site preparation and general road maintenance. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, being part of a crew and learning different areas of civil construction.

Responsibilities

- Perform general labour duties on paving, milling and road construction projects
- Assist with asphalt placement, raking, shovelling and cleanup
- Support milling operations and roadway preparation
- Assist with gravel placement, grading and base preparation
- Operate skid steers and compactors/rollers when qualified
- Assist with crack sealing and road maintenance work
- Perform equipment cleaning and basic daily maintenance
- Install and move traffic-control devices and work-zone signage
- Help mobilize tools and equipment between projects
- Work with foremen and operators to keep production moving efficiently
- Complete other construction-related duties as required

Preferred Experience We are particularly interested in applicants with experience operating:
- Skid steers
- Asphalt or base rollers
- Compact loaders
- Small construction equipment





Experience in asphalt paving, milling, road construction, earthworks, gravel placement or civil construction is considered a strong asset.

Requirements

- Previous construction experience preferred
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Reliable transportation
- Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Able to perform physical construction work
- Willing to work extended hours and occasional weekends during peak season
- Strong safety awareness
- Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a crew
