What You’ll Be Doing, r eporting directly to the President, the General Manager will:
- Strengthening operational performance and lead the plant operations (production, transportation, site and production maintenance, office) in Petersburg with a strong focus on safety, customer service and satisfaction, quality, and operational excellence.
- Supporting commercial performance by partnering with sales expansion, dispatch, and operations teams to meet customer needs and achieve business goals. This is to maximize the monetary value of our products as well.
- Driving continuous improvement across all functional areas, production, delivery, fleet utilization, inventory, and cost controls to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Build, coach, and support high-performing teams while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental requirements, government regulations, and applicable safety standards.
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the President to develop and execute the company's strategic plan.
- Translate strategic objectives into measurable operational initiatives.
- Monitor organizational performance through meaningful KPIs and business metrics.
- Identify opportunities, manage risk,
and provide thoughtful recommendations supporting long-term growth.
- Foster a culture built on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.
The incumbent will manage directly a manager, transportation and site mechanic, and the office staff, and the plant workers (operators, mechanic, general workers). The incumbent collaborates with the Finance department i.e. Vice-President Finance and Controllers, the Sales teams i.e. the Vice-President Business Development and Sales, the Animal Nutritionist and R&D; and with the regional Customer Satisfaction Managers/Lead as well as with HR, i.e.
Vice-President HR and the HR Business Partner, and the Quality director.
The General Manager attends weekly in-person or virtual meetings on Wednesdays to determine the selling price of our products for the coming week.
What Are We Looking For

- Demonstrated knowledge of operations, dispatch, fleet management, production planning, and quality control.
- Sound decision-making skills with the ability to solve problems, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvement.
- Commitment to finance, sales, quality, safety, compliance, customer service, and operational discipline.
What you bring and the profile we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field agriculture, operations, business, management or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in agri-food industry or food industry or recycling
- Outstanding communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Progressive executive leadership experience within manufacturing, assembly, industrial distribution, commercial
- Proven success leading cross-functional teams across operations, sales, purchasing, supply chain, finance, warehouse, and customer service.
- Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, margin management, and business reporting.
- Experience leading supply chain optimization
- Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Six Sigma, ERP, WMS, or similar operational improvement initiatives.
- Experience working within entrepreneurial or privately owned organizations is considered an asset.
