Underhill Geomatics is a land surveying firm with offices in Fort St. John, Kamloops, Burnaby, Comox, and Whitehorse. As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program by reviewing safety documentation, monitoring compliance, conducting field safety visits, assisting with incident reporting, and promoting safe work practices across all office and field operations.

Responsibilities:

- Complete the required training within your first three months to effectively support Underhill's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program.
- Review field safety documentation, including FLHAs, pre-job inspections, daily hazard assessments, and drone flight records, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Verify that identified hazards and controls accurately reflect site conditions, including excavations, overhead hazards, traffic, mobile equipment, and changing work environments.
- Monitor safety compliance using the Salus safety management system, identify trends and gaps, and follow up with crews and supervisors to improve consistency.
- Peform documented field inspections to observe work practices, verify safety controls, and provide coaching to field staff.




- Support employee onboarding and ongoing safety training to ensure staff understand company safety procedures and documentation requirements.
- Assist with incident and near-miss reporting, investigations, documentation, and corrective action tracking under the direction of the HSE team.
- Coordinate monthly safety meetings by preparing topics, supporting meeting logistics, and tracking follow-up action items.

Requirements and Skills:

- 2+ years of experience in a health and safety, HSE, construction, surveying, or field-based safety role.
- Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessments, safety documentation, and workplace safety practices.
- Robust communication skills with the ability to coach and work collaboratively with field crews and supervisors.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review documentation, identify gaps, and track corrective actions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with safety management systems (e.g., Salus) is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
