Our Heavy Equipment Technicians play a critical role in supporting that mission. You'll perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse fleet of on-road vehicles and construction equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, medium- and heavy-duty highway trucks, pickup trucks, trailers, mini excavators, skid steers, generators, compressors, and other specialized tools used to build and maintain Alberta's traffic signal and street lighting infrastructure. Your work will maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and keep our crews operating safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on company vehicles and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including scheduled A/B/C services, oil sampling, CVIP inspections, and equipment inspections.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and performance issues, completing repairs, adjustments, and component replacements as required.
- Accurately complete work orders, inspection reports, maintenance records, and other documentation.
- Coordinate and prioritize repairs to maximize fleet availability and minimize downtime.
- Mentor and support apprentices while promoting safe work practices and quality workmanship.
- Respond to local field service calls during regular working hours as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and 12V electrical systems.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a rapid-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Commitment to safe work practices and high-quality workmanship.
- Physical ability to perform manual work in varying weather conditions.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and electronic maintenance management systems.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate.
- Valid CVIP Inspection Certificate.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Valid Alberta Class 3 Driver's Licence with Air Brake (Q) endorsement is considered an asset.
