As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Westcon you’ll have the opportunity to:

Responsibilities :
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves and related components
- Inspect and repair diesel and gasoline-powered equipment
- Perform electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains, final drives and engines
- Service winches, compressors, pumps, and electric generators
- Evacuate and recharge A/C systems
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance
- Complete work orders, inspection reports and timecards accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized and secure work environment
- Stay current with evolving equipment tech and repair techniques
- Perform additional repair and maintenance duties as required
Qualifications:
- Completion of interprovincial Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or equivalent experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems
- Experience working on All lines of construction equipment: Heavy, Mid-level and Compact
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Own hand tools (shop and specialty tools provided)
- Solid interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Be computer literate
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Physically able to lift up to 50lb
A criminal record check and driver’s abstract will be required.
Work Conditions and place:
- Shop based position with some exposure to field work
- PPE and safety equipment provided
- Overtime available as required
- Hazards of typical heavy duty equipment environment
