Job Summary

We are seeking a creative and forward-thinking Business Teacher who can help students understand how businesses, markets, organizations, and financial decisions work in the real world.

The successful candidate will go beyond textbook-based instruction by designing purposeful projects, case studies, simulations, and problem-solving activities. Students should not only learn business concepts but also be able to use them to analyze situations, make decisions, communicate ideas, and develop practical solutions.

We are particularly interested in a teacher who can begin with clear learning goals, organize complex knowledge into manageable stages, and gradually guide students from structured instruction toward independent thinking and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

- Teach Ontario secondary school Business Studies courses in accordance with the Ontario Curriculum.
- Courses may include:
- BBB4M – International Business Fundamentals
- BOH4M – Business Leadership
- CIA4U – Analysing Current Economic Issues
- Other business, entrepreneurship, accounting, economics, or financial literacy courses
- Translate curriculum expectations into clear, measurable, and meaningful learning goals.
- Design goal-oriented projects connected to real business situations.
- Use case studies, business simulations, debates, presentations, market research, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Help students develop business plans, marketing strategies, financial analyses, leadership proposals, or economic policy recommendations.
- Teach students how to evaluate information, use evidence, identify assumptions, and make reasoned decisions.
- Manage students’ cognitive load by breaking complex business problems into structured and manageable stages.
- Provide models, examples, templates, and guided practice before expecting students to complete work independently.

- Connect business theory with current industries, organizations, technologies, and economic developments.
- Use assessment for learning, as learning, and of learning to monitor progress and improve instruction.
- Support students from different academic, cultural, and English-language backgrounds.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary and school-wide projects.

What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate:
- Has strong knowledge of business, economics, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, accounting, or finance.
- Can connect theoretical concepts to practical business decisions and real-world problems.
- Designs projects around specific learning outcomes rather than assigning activities without a clear instructional purpose.
- Knows how to balance direct instruction, guided analysis, group work, discussion, and independent projects.
- Can simplify complex ideas without removing their intellectual depth.
- Understands when students need structure and when they are ready for greater independence.
- Encourages students to question assumptions, evaluate evidence, compare alternatives, and defend their decisions.
- Uses failure, revision, and feedback as part of the learning process.
- Is comfortable discussing current business trends, technological developments, and global economic issues.
- Demonstrates creativity, initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to develop new teaching approaches.
- Sets high expectations while providing appropriate support.
- Is committed to professional growth and reflective teaching practice.
