HSSE Supervisor
Department: Operations
Reports To: HSSE Manager
Position Summary
Iconic Power Systems is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive HSSE Supervisor to support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental programs.
Working closely with Operations, Project Teams, Clients, and Field Personnel, the HSSE Supervisor will provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This role requires a strong field presence and a commitment to fostering a positive safety culture across all project and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the HSSE Manager in the planning, coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSSE programs and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to Project and Operations teams on health, safety, security, and environmental matters.
- Ensure compliance with provincial OHS legislation, WCB/WSIB requirements, client standards, and company policies.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental awareness throughout the organization.
- Conduct field visits, inspections, and audits to monitor compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to field personnel to ensure HSSE expectations are met and exceeded.
- Encourage proactive reporting of hazards, near misses, incidents, and environmental concerns.
- Respond to employee safety concerns and assist with issue resolution.
- Maintain HSSE databases, records, and online compliance platforms.
- Support worker engagement and participation in the Iconic Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).
- Participate in project handoff meetings, kickoffs, reviews,
and other operational meetings as required.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 7 years of related Health, Safety, and Environment experience.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
- High-voltage construction experience.
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS).
- Robust understanding of provincial OHS legislation, WCB/WSIB requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience supporting construction projects and field operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Assets
- Experience in electrical transmission, distribution, and substation construction.
- Knowledge of earthworks and civil construction activities.
- Familiarity with unionized work environments, including CUSW.
- Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements.
- Experience with safety platforms including SiteDocs, ComplyWorks, and ISNetworld.
