POSITION SUMMARY:

The Hydrovac & Combo Vac Specialist Technician is responsible for complying with all NSC regulations applicable to this position, as well as PVT's safety policies, procedures, and Standard Work Procedures (SWPs). The Technician will consistently follow all established work practices and communicate with management when deviations are required.

This position is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of Hydrovac and Combo Vac trucks and their specialized operating systems. This includes high-pressure water systems, vacuum systems, hydraulic systems, PTOs, pumps, booms, tanks, plumbing, filtration systems, electrical controls, and associated components. The Technician will ensure all equipment operates safely, efficiently,



and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable legislation while maintaining accurate maintenance documentation.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Hydrovac and Combo Vac trucks and specialized equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on high-pressure water systems, vacuum systems, hydraulic systems, PTOs, and truck chassis.

Repair and service:
- Vacuum pumps
- Water pumps
- PTO systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Hydraulic booms
- Water heating systems (where applicable)
- Tanks and plumbing
- Valves, filters, hoses, and piping
- Electrical and control systems
- Perform inspections to ensure equipment complies with manufacturer specifications, CVIP requirements, and company standards.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, technical manuals, and work orders.
- Test equipment after repairs to verify safe and proper operation.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and inspection documentation.
- Assist with new truck builds, equipment installations, and modifications.
- Respond to field service calls and perform repairs at remote job sites as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work collaboratively with Operations to minimize equipment downtime.
- Mentor apprentices and shop personnel when required.
- Maintain a customer-focused approach while delivering quality workmanship
- Other job duties as required, as the above duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification (Red Seal Optional)
- Holding a Valid CVIP Truck & Trailer License and/or willing to obtain prior to start date, is a requirement
- 3+ years of experience repairing and maintaining Hydrovac, Combo Vac, or similar oilfield service equipment
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Vacuum systems




- High-pressure water systems
- Hydraulic systems

- Diesel engines
- Heavy truck electrical systems
- Plumbing and piping systems
- Kenworth experience is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, fit-for-duty testing
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Basic computer skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- The role involves physical labour, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks that require reaching above shoulder height or below the waist.
- Work may be performed in a variety of weather conditions and job-site environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain mobile for extended periods, including walking on uneven terrain.
- Required to always wear all mandated PPE; hooded clothing is not permitted in the field.
- Employees are expected to attend and complete all assigned jobs as dispatched; work assignments are not optional and cannot be declined based on preference.
- Employees are expected to work their scheduled shifts assigned. While on Shift you are on an on-call rotation, which may require availability 24 hours per day. Scheduled shifts may include statutory holidays; required to work scheduled shifts even when they fall on a statutory holiday.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time hourly position. Standard hours of work will vary but will follow a shift schedule. Scheduled shifts/rotations. On-call responsibilities may be required on a 24-hour per day basis. Some overtime hours may be required on an as needed basis. Travel to other locations may be required. Camp work may be required.
