We're Hiring: Industrial Instrumentation & Combustion Controls Technician
Ready for a new challenge? Advanced Energy Management Ltd. is seeking an Industrial Instrumentation & Combustion Controls Technician in Nova Scotia.
Position Summary:
The Industrial Instrumentation & Combustion Controls Technician is responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial instrumentation, combustion controls, boiler control systems, and associated automation systems. The successful candidate will support industrial customers by ensuring safe, reliable, and productive operation of critical systems while delivering exceptional technical service.
What You’ll Be Doing:
· Calibrate and maintain industrial instrumentation using NIST-traceable standards.
· Perform combustion testing, tuning, and boiler efficiency assessments.
· Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, DCS, burner management systems, and boiler controls.
· Install, commission, and test instrumentation, control panels, and automation systems.
· Diagnose system issues using electrical drawings, control schematics, and P&IDs.;
· Support control system upgrades, retrofit projects, and modernization initiatives.
· Provide technical support, training, and recommendations to customers.
· Complete service reports and documentation accurately and on time.
· Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
What We’re Looking For:
· Red Seal Instrumentation & Control Technician Certification (or equivalent provincial certification).
· 3-5+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation, combustion controls, boiler controls,
or industrial automation.
· Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and burner management & Boiler control systems.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical documentation.
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
· Eligible to obtain Government of Canada security clearances and RCMP.
Working Conditions
· Travel throughout Atlantic Canada, with occasional travel elsewhere in Canada.
· Periodic travel assignments of up to two weeks.
· Work in industrial facilities, boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, and outdoor sites.
· Overtime and participation in an on-call rotation may be required.
