Junior HSE Advisor/Safety Administration

As an integral member of the HSE team, the Junior HSE Advisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, actively participating in the continuous enhancement of the HSE program, and ultimately supporting the growth and development of our safety culture at PVL.

Responsibilities:

- Contribute to the development and implementation of HSE policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
- Ensure PVL’s HSE policy remains consistent with WorkSafeBC standards.
- Evaluate and develop practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
- Keep track of employee training, competencies and schedule re-training
- Assist HSE Supervisor with audits on project work sites.
- Assist the HSE Supervisor with incident investigations including reporting, documentation, and follow up requirements.
- Work with the HSE Supervisor to generate and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Educate employees in safe work practices and have all resources necessary for employees to work safely while maintaining a positive attitude towards safe work practices.
- Create job binders for recent projects based on information gathered at project start up meetings.
- Report back to the HSE Supervisor with any feedback or suggestions for improvement.

The successful candidate will: · Have knowledge of WorkSafe BC rules and regulations





· Demonstrate an ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Be proficient in business software (Outlook, Excel, Word).

· Have exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

· Be willing to work outside in all weather conditions.

· Be willing to travel to project worksites.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay Range: $20 - $30 per hour

Work Schedules:

· Work schedules are anticipated to be 40hrs/week, Monday to Friday

· Additional overtime hours may be required as per project

· Company is based out of Terrace BC, but work may be out of town and require candidate to stay out of town for a period of time

· Communication Skills: Clearly and effectively communicate safety policies and procedures to workers and management; Facilitate safety meetings and training sessions

Collaborating with other departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to safety; Working with safety committees and representatives

· Regulatory Compliance: Staying up to date with changes in health and safety regulations; Ensuring the organization’s compliance with all relevant safety laws

· Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt safety programs to changes in the organization or industry; Adapting to new technologies and methodologies in health and safety

· Interpersonal skills: Building positive relationships with employees, management and regulatory authorities; Handling sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact

· Risk Assessment: Ability to assess and identify potential risks in the workplace; Conducting thorough risk assessments to develop effective safety measures

Experience:

· 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in construction safety

· Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Stay up to date on local, provincial, and federal safety regulations relevant to the construction industry; Understand and interpret safety codes and standards

Licence/Certification:

· Drivers Licence, Class 5

· Occupational Health & Safety training and/or certifications

· NCSO designation or is in progress
