Bake With Pookie is a custom cake and café business in the heart of Roncesvalles, specializing in buttercream cakes and daily café treats for our local community. We're a small, hands-on team looking for a reliable Kitchen Helper whose main focus will be keeping our kitchen spotless and fully stocked with clean equipment.

About the Role

We're hiring a Kitchen Helper primarily responsible for dishwashing and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen — this is the core of the role. You'll be the person making sure our bakers always have clean molds, bowls, and tools ready to go, and that our workspace meets a high standard of cleanliness at all times. You'll also support bakers with general prep and operations as needed.

Responsibilities

- Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, cake molds, mixing bowls, utensils, and all baking equipment continuously throughout the day — this is the primary duty of the role
- Deep-clean and maintain kitchen surfaces, floors, sinks, and equipment to a high standard of cleanliness
- Keep the dish station and cleaning supplies stocked and organized at all times
- Take out trash/recycling and keep common areas tidy and sanitized
- Restock ingredients, packaging, and supplies as needed




- Assist bakers with prep work (measuring, mixing, organizing ingredients) as directed
- Help prepare and pack orders for pickup/delivery
- Support the team with general kitchen tasks during busy periods
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times

Requirements

- Strong comfort with continuous, repetitive dishwashing and deep-cleaning tasks — this is the main function of the job
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Weightlifting ability required — up to 20–25 kg (e.g. lifting ingredient bags, equipment, stacked dish bins, cake tiers)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and stay on your feet for most of the shift
- Team player, willing to jump in and help wherever needed
- Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain one)

Nice to Have (not required)

- Previous kitchen, dishwashing, or bakery experience
- Interest in learning baking or cake decorating down the line
