Ziyutec Inc. is a Canadian engineering consulting firm specializing in electrical engineering, building systems, and commissioning. We provide services for federal, provincial, and municipal government clients, as well as selected institutional, industrial, and commercial projects across Canada.

Government and public-sector projects represent a significant portion of our current work. Our projects include building renovations, electrical system upgrades, emergency power, fire alarm and life-safety systems, institutional facilities, and commissioning.

Ziyutec is also actively integrating AI into engineering production, technical review, project documentation, proposal development, and project management. The Opportunity

We are seeking a practical and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer – Project Delivery to provide technical and project leadership for electrical engineering assignments.

This is a hands-on senior position combining electrical engineering, project delivery, client communication, and site involvement. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate projects, attend client meetings and project sites, provide technical direction to the production team, and independently resolve routine and moderately complex engineering issues.

The individual is not expected to personally perform every task or have every answer. Support will be available from the company Principal, experienced engineers, project coordinators, CAD and production staff, field personnel, and AI-enabled engineering tools.

The successful candidate must, however, demonstrate sound judgement, take ownership of assigned projects, make appropriate day-to-day decisions, and bring clear analysis and recommendations when additional senior input is required.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Engineering and Technical Leadership

- Lead the electrical design and delivery of building engineering projects.
- Develop and review electrical design concepts, drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and technical submissions.
- Provide technical direction to engineers, designers, CAD staff, and other project team members.
- Review work for technical accuracy, code compliance, coordination, constructability, and completeness.
- Address technical questions arising during design, tender, construction, and commissioning.
- Identify significant technical, contractual, schedule, and professional liability risks and escalate them appropriately.
- Participate in the continued development of Ziyutec’s engineering standards, QA/QC procedures,



and AI-assisted technical review processes.

Project Delivery and Coordination
- Act as Project Lead for assigned electrical engineering projects.
- Plan project activities, deliverables, responsibilities, milestones, and required resources.
- Assign and coordinate work with engineers, designers, CAD staff, project coordinators, and subconsultants.
- Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, outstanding issues, and action items.
- Follow up with project team members to ensure assigned work is completed on time.
- Coordinate electrical work with mechanical, architectural, structural, civil, and other disciplines.
- Support the preparation and review of fee proposals, scope changes, project schedules, and additional service requests.
- Ensure appropriate project documentation and records are maintained.

Client and Government Project Support
- Represent Ziyutec at client, consultant, contractor, and project meetings.
- Lead routine technical and project coordination meetings.
- Communicate engineering issues and recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Develop constructive working relationships with government project managers, facility representatives, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Attend site investigations, construction reviews, deficiency reviews, commissioning activities, and project meetings as required.
- Prepare or review site reports, meeting records, technical correspondence, and follow-up actions.
- Recognize matters requiring further internal review and avoid making unsupported technical, contractual, or financial commitments.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in British Columbia or Ontario.
- Generally, eight or more years of relevant electrical engineering experience. Candidates with a different experience profile may be considered if they demonstrate the required technical judgement and project leadership capability.
- Strong working knowledge of building electrical systems, including several of the following:
- normal and emergency power distribution;
- generators, transfer systems, and critical power;
- lighting and lighting controls;
- fire alarm and life-safety systems;
- communications and security systems;
- grounding and bonding;
- building renovations and existing electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable Canadian electrical, building, fire, and life-safety codes and standards.
- Experience preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, and construction documents.
- Experience with construction administration, site reviews, field investigations, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to lead or coordinate multiple projects and manage competing priorities.




- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients and project stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

Security Requirements A significant portion of Ziyutec’s work involves Government of Canada facilities and projects. The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the personnel security screening and project-specific site access required for assigned work. Existing Government of Canada security clearance and previous experience with federal government projects are strong assets.

Additional Assets

- Experience with federal, provincial, municipal, institutional, healthcare, justice, laboratory, or other public-sector projects.
- Existing Government of Canada Reliability Status or higher security clearance.
- Commissioning or integrated systems testing experience.
- Experience with existing-building investigations and renovation projects.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and other digital project-delivery tools.
- Experience mentoring engineers and designers.
- French-language capability.
- Interest in AI-assisted engineering, digital workflows, and continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is not necessarily a traditional Engineering Director or a specialist in only one narrow technical area. We are looking for someone who:
- has broad and reliable electrical engineering judgement;
- can independently manage routine and moderately complex technical matters;
- is comfortable representing the company in meetings and at project sites;
- takes responsibility for project delivery and follows issues through to completion;
- can lead a supporting team without personally performing every task;
- communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- knows when to make a decision and when additional senior review is appropriate;
- brings analysis and a recommended solution when escalating an issue; and
- is dependable, practical, accountable, and interested in long-term growth with the company.

Compensation and Growth The expected base salary range is $115,000–$150,000 per year, depending on technical capability, project leadership experience, communication skills, professional registration, government-sector experience, and security clearance. A performance bonus and employee benefits are available. Exceptional candidates who can immediately assume substantial government client-facing and project-delivery responsibilities may be considered toward the upper end of the range.
