Jack & Jill Playschool is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and passionate Lead Teacher to join our non-profit, parent-operated playschool that has proudly served Leduc families since 1989.

At Jack & Jill Playschool, we believe the best learning happens through play. Our nurturing, play-based environment encourages children ages 3–5 to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually while building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

About the Role

As our Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate play-based learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and kindergarten readiness. You'll create a warm, inclusive classroom where every child feels respected, safe, supported, and excited to learn.

Jack & Jill Playschool follows the Black Gold School Division calendar for instructional days, holidays, and Career development (PD) days, providing a schedule that closely aligns with the local school system.

Responsibilities

- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate play-based programming.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Incorporate STEAM activities, sensory experiences, art, music, movement, and outdoor play into daily programming.
- Introduce basic French vocabulary during circle time and daily routines.
- Foster independence, confidence, creativity, and positive peer relationships.




- Observe and document children's growth and development.
- Communicate effectively with families and the volunteer Board of Directors.
- Maintain licensing standards, health and safety requirements, and classroom organization.
- Mentor and collaborate with classroom assistants and volunteers.

Qualifications

- Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification (Level 2 or 3 preferred).
- Experience teaching preschool-aged children.
- Strong understanding of child development and play-based learning.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Passion for creating meaningful learning experiences for young children.

Pay: $17.23-$22.00 per hour
