Role Description The Line Cook is a part-time, on-site role based in Mississauga ON, Canada. The person in this role prepares menu items to specification, including chopping, marinating, cooking, and plating dishes according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and breaking down stations, maintaining proper food storage and labeling, monitoring cooking times, and ensuring food is prepared safely and efficiently during service.
The Line
Cook collaborates with other kitchen team members to coordinate orders, manage peak service times, and keep work areas clean and organized. This role may also support inventory checks, receive deliveries, and assist with basic prep work to keep the kitchen ready for service.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in basic cooking techniques, knife skills, and hot and cold food preparation.
- Experience preparing Fried Chicken and Mediterranean cuisine, including consistent execution of recipes, proper seasoning, frying techniques, and food presentation.
- Demonstrated experience preparing South Asian cuisine, with a strong understanding of traditional spices, marinades, and cooking methods used in Pakistani and Indian dishes.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently on a busy line, follow recipes accurately, and maintain consistency in quality and presentation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with other kitchen and front-of-house team members.
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks during high-volume service periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Formal culinary training or certification is an asset but not required.
