Position Summary The Lube Technician is responsible for diligently maintaining, repairing and servicing customer vehicles to ensure both customer safety and satisfaction while contributing to overall departmental success. A key priority for a technician is to instill brand loyalty and ensure a positive customer service experience.

The Lube Technician has excellent communication skills and is able to listen and discern as well as execute all requirements in the Lube Service process. The technician can focus on the big-picture without missing any of the details and delivers results. They continually strive to become an expert in their field so that the service provided is above customer expectations.

A Lube Technician upholds the dealerships’ standards and values so that the customer is fully satisfied through every interaction with the service department. As a team player, the Lube Technician fosters positive relationships with personnel in all areas of the dealership.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

- Identify any observed malfunctions and inform the Service Advisor of required repair.
- Explain procedures and repairs directly to the Service Advisor if beyond the scope of a standard lube assignment.
- Review and analyze actions regularly to determine how to better utilize time and plan more effectively.
- Encourage compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Notifying the Service Advisor when vehicle maintenance or servicing cannot be completed within scheduled timeframes.
- Applying lubricants to applicable parts of vehicle engines, including oil change, to prevent premature engine wear and ensure optimal engine performance.
- Lubricating wheel bearings to prevent excessive tire wear.
- Performing engine cleanings to prevent rust formation.
- Replacing cabin, fuel, air, and oil filters as required.
- Performing tire rotations to ensure even tire wear.
- Testing tire pressure and adding air as needed.




- Thoroughly inspecting customers’ vehicles for oil leaks.
- Making recommendations for additional servicing based on initial vehicle inspection.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES This position may be required to train and coach others on the tasks associated with the Lube Technician role.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position is supervised by the Service Manager or delegate for quality, accuracy, timeliness and general performance measures.

SCOPE FOR INDEPENDENT ACTION

This position has a limited scope of independent action. The Lube Technician is responsible for determining the extent of product required and the level of work to be completed in order to meet standards.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT

This position is responsible for the protected use of shop equipment to which they are trained, including but not limited to tire cage, tire lifters, hydraulic lube equipment, hoists and impact tools as well as standard computer equipment.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

- High School Diploma (or Equivalent) or working towards High School Diploma.
- Adaptable to work evening and weekend shifts as scheduled.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive and engaging attitude.
- Organized with an attention to detail
- Flexible and open to change; initiative to take on special tasks as needed
- Holds a valid driver’s license
- Basic computer skills
