Part-Time Facilities & Maintenance Technician

Location: Toronto, ON

We are looking for a practical, reliable and experienced maintenance person to help look after our facility on a part-time basis.

This is an ideal role for someone with general building maintenance, carpentry, renovation or property-management experience who enjoys fixing things and working independently. Tools will be provided.

The position will generally be one or two days per week, with occasional additional hours available for larger projects.

Responsibilities

- General building repairs and preventative maintenance
- Drywall patching and minor wall repairs
- Painting and touch-ups
- Minor carpentry and woodworking
- Repairing and adjusting doors, hinges, locks and hardware
- Installing shelving, fixtures, signage and equipment
- Caulking and sealing
- Minor plumbing repairs
- Furniture assembly and repairs
- Basic troubleshooting of building fixtures and equipment
- Identifying maintenance issues before they become larger problems
- Keeping maintenance supplies, tools and commonly used parts organized
- Helping with occasional improvement and renovation projects
- Coordinating with licensed electricians, plumbers,



HVAC technicians and other trades when specialized work is required
- Maintaining a running list of repairs completed and items requiring follow-up

Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in building maintenance, renovations, carpentry, property maintenance or a similar hands-on role
- Comfortable using common hand and power tools
- Able to troubleshoot problems independently
- Good judgment about what can be repaired in-house and what requires a licensed trade
- Reliable and able to work with minimal supervision
- Organized and able to work through a prioritized maintenance list
- Comfortable working in an active commercial facility
- Own basic hand tools an asset
- Valid driver's licence is an asset but not required

This could be a particularly valuable fit for an experienced tradesperson, building superintendent, contractor or semi-retired maintenance professional looking for consistent part-time work. Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
