Overview The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the reliability, maintenance and performance of IGV Housing's manufacturing equipment, machinery and production facility.
Working closely with Manufacturing leadership and production teams, the Maintenance Technician undertakes mechanical maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment repairs and installations to help keep equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
A key focus of the position is identifying potential problems before they result in production downtime, completing preventative maintenance consistently and to the required standard, and responding promptly to equipment breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment & Mechanical Maintenance – Primary Focus
- Perform hands-on preventative and breakdown maintenance across manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, equipment failures and performance issues.
- Complete mechanical repairs and replacement of worn or damaged components.
- Work alongside specialized contractors on more complex maintenance, repairs and technical issues.
- Maintain and repair equipment including conveyors, bearings, drives, motors, gearboxes, compressed air systems and production machinery.
- Undertake routine equipment inspections to identify wear, damage or potential failures before breakdown occurs.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning, relocation and modifications.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with production teams to minimise downtime.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend practical improvements.
- Maintain appropriate tools, parts and materials required to support equipment maintenance.
Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance across manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Ensure preventative maintenance activities are completed according to schedule and documented appropriately.
- Undertake lubrication, belt and chain maintenance, equipment adjustments, servicing and routine mechanical inspections.
- Monitor equipment condition and escalate potential issues before they affect production.
- Assist in developing and improving preventative maintenance procedures and checklists.
- Maintain accurate equipment maintenance histories and records.
- Track recurring faults and contribute to corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability, safety and operational efficiency.
Maintenance Planning, Parts & Inventory
- Complete maintenance activities around production requirements to minimise disruption.
- Maintain appropriate levels of critical spare parts, consumables, tools and maintenance supplies.
- Monitor inventory and identify parts requiring replenishment.
- Ensure tools and maintenance equipment are appropriately stored, maintained and available when required.
- Assist with sourcing parts, materials and specialist services where required.
- Maintain organised maintenance workspaces and storage areas.
- Complete maintenance work orders, checklists and associated documentation.
- Communicate equipment status, maintenance requirements and potential production impacts to the Manufacturing Director and relevant teams.
Facility Maintenance
- Participate in general building and facility maintenance as required.
- Support maintenance of compressed air, ventilation, extraction and other plant services.
- Complete minor building repairs and facility improvements within competency.
- Identify facility deficiencies and report or support corrective action.
- Support projects designed to improve manufacturing safety, workflow and operational efficiency.
- Assist with grounds and exterior maintenance when required.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow IGV health and safety requirements and appropriate safe work procedures and PPE requirements.
- Follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures during maintenance activities.
- Ensure equipment is appropriately isolated before maintenance work begins.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe equipment and unsafe working conditions.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings and training.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and within individual levels of training and competency.
- Support a proactive approach to equipment and workplace safety across the manufacturing facility.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical, industrial or manufacturing equipment maintenance.
- Experience with conveyors, bearings, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic systems and compressed air equipment.
- Experience diagnosing mechanical breakdowns and returning equipment to service.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems or CMMS.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with practical experience troubleshooting and repairing machinery.
- Experience completing preventative and scheduled maintenance.
- Ability to organise and prioritise maintenance activities in a quick-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence.
- Basic computer literacy for work orders, maintenance records and documentation.
Highly Desirable
- Journeyman experience, or significant practical experience working alongside a Journeyman in a mechanical trade.
- Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic or similar mechanical trade background.
- Experience maintaining manufacturing or production-line equipment.

Pay: $36.00-$40.00 per hour
