Unit Electric is a busy manufacturing facility located in Okanagan Falls, BC. We design and manufacture standard and custom electrical power, distribution and control equipment for mining, renewable energy, oil & gas, commercial, industrial and transportation.

Due to continued growth and increasing demand for our products and services, we are expanding our team and seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to support our ongoing success.

About the Role The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting mechanical systems and components while working collaboratively with production, and project teams. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys solving technical challenges, and thrives in a fast‑paced, hands‑on setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Create mechanical designs, layouts and drawings of electrical switchgear, industrial power & control equipment, modular buildings and substations.
- Prepare accurate drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering team, production/fabrication teams, purchasing and project managers.
- Support the shop floor by responding to technical questions and resolving design issues.
- Maintain organized design files and documentation following company standards.
- Contribute positively to team discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of company engineering standards and procedures.

Qualifications





- Mechanical Technologist diploma is required.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant design experience.
- Experience with 3D mechanical design & drafting (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- Competent in MS Word and Excel.
- Previous steel design experience preferred.
- Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Positive, professional attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $65,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
