Medical Receptionist Job Responsibilities
- Answers telephones, responds to voicemails in a professional and courteous manner.
- Serves patients by greeting and helping them and responds to their inquiries
- Communicates relevant appointment information to patients and keeps track of bookings
- Provides day-to-day administrative support for physicians and medical staff
- Books and confirms patient appointments
- Maintains filing in patient charts and links documents in the electronic medical record
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintains a professional approach to assisting doctors, staff, visitors and patients.
- Maintain business inventory such as checking supplies
- Liaise between medical departments with discretion and professionalism
- Adhere to policy and procedures during all activities
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a primary care setting. Equivalent experience will be considered
- Post-secondary courses completed in Office Administration, Business Administration or Bookkeeping
- Able to maintain and project a skilled demeanor while dealing with clients
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency in email (ex. Gmail)
- Experience with electronic medical records (Accuro experience considered an asset)
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and time management skills
- Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail and adheres to strict confidentiality
- University/college degree is an asset
