DUTIES:
- Safely operates Medical Device Reprocessing equipment.
- Safely dissembles, cleans, disinfects, reassembles and sterilizes reusable medical equipment according to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards, manufacturer’s instructions and hospital policies/procedures.
- Identifies and reports equipment malfunction to ensure safety of co-workers and takes appropriate action to rectify any hazardous conditions.
- Knows and follows Infection Control Policies, Spaulding’s Classification, as well as all pertinent regulations pertaining to MDR.
- Keeps and submits completed, accurate records and statistics, as required.
- Inspects instrumentation for functionality and takes appropriate steps to rectify issues.
- Keeps MDRAO (Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario) or equivalent certification current.
- Communicates with and seeks the advice of department Supervisor, as required.
- Maintains sterile inventories.
- Keeps informed and maintains all educational requirements for devices and equipment (ex. Techniques Course, MDRAO)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary school diploma.
- Current certificate in Medical Device reprocessing, Central Service of Ontario (CSA), Certified Medical Device Reprocessing (CMDRT) or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year recent experience in sterile reprocessing
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of Canadian Standards sterilization, Spaulding’s Classification, and Medical Terminology.
- Knowledge of Operating Room instrumentation care and tray set-ups, and sterile technique.
- Working knowledge of computers

- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, qualified, responsible and reassuring manner,
both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
- Demonstrated behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, Vision, Values and Standards of Performance.
