Mill Operator
Location: Westlock, Alberta
Wage: $26.00 per hour

The Role
AIL is seeking a safety-conscious, mechanically inclined Mill Operator to join our Westlock manufacturing team. You will set up and operate the spiral mill, inspect finished products, maintain accurate production records, and help troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
What You Will Do
- Promote a protected work environment by following safe work practices and encouraging others to do the same.
- Set up the spiral mill according to established procedures and product specifications.
- Locate and load the correct steel coils onto the mill, using a forklift when required.
- Change roll dies as required for production.
- Inspect profiles, lock seams, and pipe diameters after each setup.
- Verify the thickness and width of each steel coil.
- Manufacture corrugated steel pipe within applicable CSA G401 diameter and length tolerances.
- Record coil lengths at the beginning and end of each run and complete quality inspection and daily production reports.
- Assist with diagnosing and resolving mechanical problems affecting the mill.
- Follow AIL’s Quality Management System and established production procedures.
- Support continuous improvement by helping develop and implement improved processes and technologies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of cause-and-effect relationships in machinery and production processes.
- Experience using common hand and pneumatic tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, side cutters, and air tools.
- Welding ability.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to stay organized, work independently, and respond appropriately to production priorities.
- The ability to work safely and effectively under pressure in a manufacturing environment.
Assets
- Experience operating a forklift.
- Computer literacy.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Previous experience operating production or metal-forming equipment.
