Naval Architect (PENG)
Albion Marine Solutions provides project management, engineering, consultancy, and conversion services to the maritime and offshore industries worldwide. The company delivers a substantial number of new-build and conversion design projects.
The Naval Architect is responsible for supporting the planning, design, analysis, and execution of vessel new construction, conversion, and retrofit projects. The successful candidate will assist in developing engineering solutions, preparing technical documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
The role requires knowledge of vessel design principles, classification society rules, and marine engineering standards. Some travel within Canada, the USA, Asia, and Europe may be required
Reporting: Report to the Director.
Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
- Registered EIT or eligible to obtain Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- 2–5 years of experience in vessel design, recent construction, repairs, or conversion projects.
- Knowledge of hull, structural, piping, and marine systems design.
- Familiarity with Classification Society Rules, IMO regulations, and applicable marine
standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, ShipConstructor, Maxsurf, or similar marine design
software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong technical report writing and specification preparation skills.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Respo nsibilities
- Prepare and develop vessel design drawings and engineering documentation for new
construction, repair, and conversion projects.
- Assist in preparing vessel surveys, inspection reports, and technical assessments.
- Review vessel drawings and specifications for compliance with applicable regulations, Class
Rules, and client requirements.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design analyses, and technical reports.
- Support preparation of Class approval submissions and responses to technical comments.
- Assist in developing work packages, project specifications, and dry docking/conversion
documentation.
- Coordinate with structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and production teams throughout
project execution.
- Participate in project meetings and provide engineering support during construction,
inspections, and commissioning activities.
- Monitor assigned engineering tasks to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are
achieved.
- Maintain accurate project records and technical documentation.
- Identify technical issues and communicate potential risks to the Project Manager or Senior
Naval Architect.
