Volunteer Opportunity Details Volunteer Opportunity ID: 4988 Description of Duties:

Open Circle is a non-profit program that encourages volunteers to visit people in prison and offer caring, non-judgmental support.

We also seek to support the healthy integration of people in prison back into the community. Within this web of friendship, concerned members of society offer hope and help to create an environment in which a person in prison or out on the street can choose to take steps towards positive growth.

We require a 1 year commitment from our volunteers, though they are welcome no stay on longer.

Volunteers will be matched with an inmate by Open Circle staff, once matched it is expected that they will visit with the inmate twice a month.





Building authentic friendships with people in prison and ex-prisoners, providing opportunities for participation and support in healthy communities.

Volunteers will be responsible for their own transportation to and from Stony Mountain institution.

Skills Required Open heart and open mind.

Good conversation skills.

Means of transportation to and from Stony Mountain Institution (about 15km from the perimeter highway).

Twice monthly visits with the inmate at Stony Mountain institution, working within the visiting hours of the institution for that particular inmate.
