Outlet Chef – Creekbread

About the Role

Creekbread is seeking a skilled and hands-on Outlet Chef to lead kitchen operations at our popular wood-fired pizzeria. Reporting to the F&B; Operations Manager / Director of Food & Beverage, this role is responsible for day-to-day kitchen leadership, team development, food quality, and operational performance.

This is an ideal chance for an experienced culinary professional who enjoys being on the line, leading by example, and creating a positive, high-performing kitchen culture while maintaining strong cost control and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee all kitchen operations for the Creekbread outlet
- Lead, supervise, and support the kitchen team during prep and service
- Manage prep lists, par levels, and daily kitchen workflow
- Ensure consistent food quality, execution, and presentation
- Conduct line checks prior to service
- Take a hands-on role cooking, expediting, and troubleshooting during service
- Promote open, respectful communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Proactively engage with guests in the dining room to build relationships and respond to feedback
- Support menu development, tastings, and special events
- Manage food ordering, inventory, and cost controls
- Record food waste daily in Margin Edge
- Ensure all service notes and operational updates are entered in 7shifts
- Manage scheduling and labour costs in line with business volume
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant kitchen environment
- Participate in company Health & Safety initiatives
- Coordinate maintenance needs with Engineering and leadership teams
- Complete required administrative tasks including payroll approvals, overtime approvals, and performance reviews
- Foster strong team morale and a positive kitchen culture

Qualifications & Experience

- Culinary training with FoodSafe Certification (required); Red Seal or equivalent experience considered an asset depending on role
- 3-5 years of progressive kitchen experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
- Strong hands-on culinary skills with a focus on consistency, quality, and execution
- Proven experience managing food costs, inventory, and labour productivity
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor kitchen teams in a fast-paced workplace
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Comfortable using kitchen systems and technology (e.g., scheduling, inventory, admin tools)
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business needs
- Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift 30–50 lbs, depending on role

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $28.85-$35.00 per hour
