Following the Mission Statement of the Beaverhouse First Nation Band Office we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker to provide culturally respectful, client-centered care to Elders, adults, and individuals requiring assistance with daily living. The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting independence, wellness, and quality of life while honoring Indigenous traditions, values, and community protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide personal care and assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
· Support clients with meal preparation, feeding, light housekeeping, and laundry.
· Promote clients' emotional, social, and mental well-being through compassionate companionship while encouraging independence.
· Monitor and report changes in clients' physical, emotional, or mental health to the Health Team.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client care and services provided.
· Follow all infection prevention, health and safety, privacy, and confidentiality policies.
· Assist in developing and delivering community health programs, workshops, meetings, and wellness initiatives for Elders and community members.
· Provide advocacy and navigation support by helping Elders access healthcare services, government benefits, and community resources.
· Work collaboratively with nurses, families, Elders, and other members of the health care team.
· Participate in community wellness and health promotion activities as required.
· Provide transportation assistance for medical appointments, grocery shopping,
and other essential needs when required.
· Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
· Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate, related healthcare education, or equivalent work experience in a caregiving role.
· Current First Aid and CPR certification.
· Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
· Must be physically able to perform personal care, lifting, and client transfers safely.

· Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions.
· Previous experience working in Indigenous Communities.
· Compassionate, respectful, and patient.
· Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity.
· Excellent observation and documentation skills.
· Reliable, flexible, and able to maintain confidentiality.
· Proficiency in the use of computer programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Outlook, Databases, ARMS, Etc.

Salary: $48,000 - $63,000 annually
