Position Overview:

We are seeking a permanent Power Systems Modeling Engineer to join our Control Centre Technology Systems Department.

Responsibilities:

- Work collaboratively with technical team members and participate in internal committees to ensure that the modelling activities

are properly addressed and the accuracy and performance of the model is maintained for use in the AEMS real-time and study applications by System Operations staff to perform real-time assessments and power system studies such as powerflow, contingency, and stability analysis.
- Participate in the collection, compilation, and implementation of power system data required for the AEMS network

applications including, the power system model, ICCP, STNET, dynamic ratings and Network Limit Modelling.
- Participate in system upgrades and enhancements to the AEMS system and GE Source modeler application.
- Through network modeling activities, assist with the integration of the ADMS with the AEMS network modelling environment,

including implementation, simulation, studies affecting the power flow solutions and response.
- Support the identification of modelling gaps,



validation of topology and parameters, changes to network displays, and the

inclusion of measurements across the external model footprint including US, Saskatchewan, and Ontario
- Assist in evaluation of impacts on the AEMS applications, prioritizing the external modeling work packages to ensure data

accuracy, and timely updates to the system to ensure accurate representation.
- Collaborate with neighbouring utilities and external organizations to ensure timely exchange of required model data and

information, including the use of the MISO modeling tool to maintain the MH model.
- Support activities related to compliance of NERC and FERC including FAC-008, TOP-003, IRO-010, and Order 881.
- Identify opportunities to improve process efficiencies and actively contribute to developing and documenting new workflow.
- Provide guidance and training to Engineers-in-Training, interns, and summer students.
- Prepare formal reports and technical memorandums.

Qualifications:

- Graduate in Electrical Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of four years of related experience

in power system analysis.
- Skilled member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a

specified amount of time).
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Transparent" security rating in accordance with Manitoba

Hydro policy P513.
- NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required for this position. The training must be completed prior to

transfer date and renewed annually.




- Must have completed Standards of Conduct training or be willing to complete within two weeks of start date.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and effectively solve complex problems.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer programs intended for power system simulation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop computer models to analyze power systems.
- Experience with a variety of utility-based power apparatus, communication equipment and EMS/SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C++ and SQL would be an asset.
- Knowledge of relational databases would be an asset.
- Strong Computer skills in the areas of Windows Operating System, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
- Post graduate degree or graduate courses related to power systems would be an asset.
- Must possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.

Salary Range Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the Skilled Engineer II classification is

$44.75-$61.75 Hourly, $85,745.40-$118,316.64 Annually. The range for the Engineer-in-Training classification is $33.48-$47.12

Hourly, $64,162.80-$90,284.22 Annually.
